Set within a restored plantation-era manager’s home, the cafe reflects the long history of Kiahuna Plantation, land that once included Kihahouna Heiau, an important cultural and spiritual site, and later became part of the Koloa region shaped by Hawaiʻi’s first successful sugar plantation in the 19th century. The setting connects present-day dining with the rhythms and heritage of old Kauaʻi.
Owned by Kirk and Paula Coult, the cafe represents their seventh restaurant, building on a portfolio of hospitality concepts in Aspen, Breckenridge, and Salida, Colorado; Whistler; and two locations on Kauaʻi.
“Kauaʻi has a strong sense of place, and Poʻipū felt like the right setting for a breakfast spot that is relaxed, high-quality, and convenient,” said Kirk Coult, co-owner of Kiahuna Sunrise Cafe. “The goal was to create a cafe where great coffee and fresh food fit naturally into an unhurried island morning, whether dining in or heading out for the day.”
