The mysterious yacht that is currently turning heads on Kauai is reportedly the Shinkai “super yacht” built in the Netherlands in 2021. At 55 meters in length, the yacht is in the top 10% of all yachts in the world, thus the “super yacht” label. The yacht is owned by a Belgium billionaire businessman whose concerns include philanthropic and conservation efforts for the world’s oceans.
According to Boat International, the yacht includes a 7.2 ton, three-person submarine and a Toyota Land Cruiser (stored in a sealed garage to prevent rust). To accommodate these accessories and other ship amenities, the yacht was built up with an extra deck to limit the length of the ship to allow access to smaller harbors. The extra deck contributes to the unique (taller) profile of the ship.
The luxury yacht has been spotted from various locations on Kauai, including Hanalei Bay (photo), Poipu and Nawiliwili Harbor.
