The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) has issued a Tsunami Warning for the entire State of Hawaii, including Kauai, following a massive magnitude 8.7–8.8 earthquake off Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula on Tuesday, July 29th, 2025.

Under a Tsunami Warning, the threat of dangerous coastal flooding and powerful currents is real. Residents and visitors in coastal areas or tsunami inundation zones must immediately move inland or to high ground. See map! Those who live outside evacuation zones are urged to stay put, to help prevent gridlock and allow first responders to move freely.
