VIDEO: Moalepe Trail – Where the Green Ferns Grow
On Kauai’s verdant Moalepe Trail fans of nature will be delighted to discover a tropical mountain environment teeming with ferns and other greenery. The lush trail, located inland from Wailua Homesteads, is an easy out-and-back trail that eventually connects to the Kuilau Ridge Trail, another Kauai trail known for its luxuriant vegetation. With an easy, clearly defined path that rises gently to magnificent views of Kauai’s mountainous interior, the Moalepe Trail is perfect for a relaxing nature hike. The trailhead, at the junction of Waipouli Road and Olohena Road, is clearly visible with a yellow gate. Across the road is parking for about a half dozen vehicles.
