The Mount Waialeale Overlook is a scenic vista included with the Kauai Mountain Tubing activity by Kauai Backcountry Adventures. The overlook provides a spectacular view of Mount Waialeale and the surrounding mountains and countryside. Located on private land, the only way to see this view is to be a participant in the mountain tubing activity.
The overlook is near the end of the 30-minute open-air bus ride from the Kauai Backcountry Adventures HQ in Lihue to the launch point for the Kauai Mountain Tubing adventure. The stop at the overlook, which is approximately ten minutes long, is a nice added bonus for the water activity package.
Mt. Waialale is the piko – or the heart of Kauai. It is where life begins on Kauai. Averaging over 400 inches of rain per year, the substantial rainfall is vital for drinking water, agriculture, hydroelectric power and for keeping the island lush and green.
