A Jack Harter tour helicopter with a pilot and four passengers onboard crashed at Honopu Beach on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024, reports the County of Kauai.
First responders with the Kauai Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a helicopter crash at Honopu Beach at approximately 1:40 p.m. Personnel from the Hanalei fire station and Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 responded to the incident.
According to a preliminary report, one passenger suffered a back injury while the three other passengers and the pilot did not report any injuries. Air 1 transported the injured passenger to the Princeville Airport to awaiting personnel with American Medical Response. The pilot and uninjured passengers were later retrieved by another Jack Harter helicopter.
As with all such crashes, the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are expected to investigate.
